KUWAIT, Sept 16 (KUNA) -- The National Committee for implementing Security Council Resolution No. 1325 titled Women, Peace, and Security held a meeting on Tuesday chaired by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting was represented by the Department of Human Rights, the Ministries of Justice, Interior, Defense, and Media, in addition to the Supreme Council for Family Affairs and the Supreme Council for Planning and Development.
Assistant Foreign Minister for Human Rights, Ambassador Sheikha Jawaher Al-Duaij Al-Sabah said to KUNA that Kuwait is moving forward in enhancing the role of women with the support of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
Sheikha Jawaher stated that the meeting reviewed the latest legislative developments approved by law that serve Kuwaiti women, the state's efforts in integrating women in the armed forces, future trends, the national strategy, and the committee's priorities for the current year.
The meeting also discussed the International Women's Day Celebration in cooperation with the Kuwait Red Crescent and the Red Cross, as well as the 25th anniversary of the committee.
The Committee emphasizes full and equal participation of women in peacekeeping and security efforts and enhances their role in leadership positions. (end)
