DOHA, Sept 15 (KUNA) -- The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Al-Budaiwi affirmed Monday that the extraordinary session of the GCC Supreme Council and the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit reflected highly on the standing enjoyed by Qatar.
Al-Budaiwi made the statement during a fourth joint press conference, alongside Qatari Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari, OIC Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs Ambassador Yosef Al-Dubaie, and League of Arab States Assistant Secretary-General Hosam Zaki.
Al-Budaiwi said that the extraordinary sessions of the GCC Supreme Council reaffirmed the unified position of the Council's leaders, expressing solidarity with the State of Qatar against the attacks carried out by the Israeli forces.
He stressed that the GCC leaders directed the Joint Defense Council and the Higher Military Committee to hold an urgent meeting in Doha, with the aim of assessing the defense situation and activating measures to safeguard the security of the GCC states. The final communiquأ© urged the UN Security Council to take responsibility and decisive action to stop Israeli violations, warning that continued aggression threatens peace and international security, he added.
The statement called on all peace-loving countries to condemn the Israeli crimes in Qatar, Gaza, and other Palestinian territories, including the targeting of civilians.
The statement also commended Qatar's security and civil defense authorities for their effective response in managing the attack's impact and protecting civilians. (Pickup previous) sss.ahs
