NEW DELHI, Sept 9 (KUNA) -- India announced on Tuesday that it has repatriated 67 Pakistani prisoners via Attari/Wagah border.
Indian External Affairs Ministry said in a statement that the Indian authorities repatriated via Attari/Wagah border 48 Pakistani fishermen and 19 Pakistani civilian prisoners after completing their sentences.
India also appealed to the government of Pakistan to expedite the release of Indian prisoners in Pakistan's custody.
"The government of India attaches high priority to the issue of Indian fishermen and civilian prisoners in Pakistan's custody and has urged the government of Pakistan to expedite the release and repatriation of all Indian prisoners, including fishermen who remain in Pakistan's custody," the statement said.
The Indian move comes despite tension between the two neighboring countries over a host of issues. (end) atk.mb
