TUNIS, Sept 9 (KUNA) - Tunisian Guard on Tuesday denied reports that a boat in a Gaza-bound flotilla was hit by a drone off its coast, following a fire incident onboard.
In a statement, the Guard said the Spanish-flagged vessel Family, part of the flotilla aiming to break the Gaza blockade, was not targeted by any hostile or external act.
Initial investigations indicate the fire was likely caused by a cigarette or lighter that ignited a life jacket, the statement added, dismissing social media claims of a drone strike as baseless.
Earlier, flotilla organizers reported an unknown attack on their lead vessel, resulting in visible flames.
The flotilla, which began assembling in Tunis after sailing from Barcelona, is scheduled to depart for Gaza on Wednesday. (end) sbm.seo
