PARIS, Sept 8 (KUNA) -- The French Presidential Palace (Elysee) announced on Monday that President Emmanuel Macron will appoint a new Prime Minister in the coming days, following the National Assembly's overwhelming vote to dismiss Francois Bayrou's government.
The Elysee announced in a statement on its website that "The President of the Republic acknowledges the outcome of the vote by members of parliament under Article 49-1 of the Constitution," and that Macron will meet with Francois tomorrow to accept his resignation.
Bayrou had been ousted by the National Assembly after losing a confidence vote, after taking office only nine months prior.
France 24 reported that 364 deputies voted not in favor of Bayrou, while only 194 expressed their support.
President of the National Assembly of France Yael Braun-Pivot said, "According to Article 50 of the Constitution, the Prime Minister must submit his government's resignation." (end)
