GAZA, Sept 2 (KUNA) -- Gaza's health authorities said Tuesday that 185 people died from malnutrition in August, the highest in months, underscoring a rapidly worsening famine.
Since the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) declared Gaza in famine, 70 people - among them 12 children - have died.
About 43,000 malnourished children under five and more than 55,000 affected pregnant and breastfeeding women; 67 percent of pregnant women have anemia, the worst rate in years, the authorities reported.
Officials warned that limited emergency response and shortages of food and medicine require urgent intervention to stem the humanitarian crisis. (end)
