BEIRUT, Aug 31 (KUNA) -- Lebanon's parliament speaker Nabih Berri on Sunday called for "calm dialogue" on resistance groups' disarmament as per the constitution, relevant ministerial statements, and international laws charters.
"We are open to discussing the fate of these weapons within the framework of a calm and consensual dialogue," Berri said in a televised statement.
He added that the discussion would result in the formulation of a national security strategy that could protect Lebanon, liberate its territories and safeguard its internationally recognized borders.
He added that Lebanon has observed the recently concluded ceasefire agreement, which marks an executive framework for United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 1701, while the Israeli occupation has failed to do so. (end)
