LONDON, Aug 28 (KUNA) -- The UK government announced Thursday plans to build a new facility in Darlington to develop mRNA-based treatments for cancer, heart disease, and infectious illnesses.
The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology stated that the UK Biofoundry will receive Pound 29.6 million (approximately 39.99 million dollars) in public funding to accelerate the development of advanced therapies. Minister for Science Lord Patrick Vallance said mRNA technology offers promising solutions by reprogramming human cells to fight disease, calling the project a significant step in advancing the UKآ’s life sciences sector.
Health Minister Stephen Kinnock added that such treatments could yield faster and more precise outcomes for patients, thereby enhancing preparedness for future health threats. (end) nbs.sms.ara
