CAIRO, Aug 24 (KUNA) -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty called on Sunday the international community to take on its due role by putting an end to Israeli occupation crimes and violations in the Gaza Strip.
The Egyptian foreign minister made the remarks during a phone conversation with his German counterpart Johann Wadephul, which focused on the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territory, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a press release.
He also voiced extreme concern over growing reports of deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the enclave, which confirmed that there was starvation in the Gaza Strip, calling on the international community to provide relief and medical supplies to the population of Gaza as per international law.
He also kept his German counterpart posted on Egyptian efforts to ensure humanitarian aid to the enclave, as well as preparations for a Cairo-hosted international conference on Gaza recovery and reconstruction.
For his part, Wadephul voiced appreciation for diligent efforts exerted by Egypt to reach a ceasefire and deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, along with Cairo-hosted conference on Gaza reconstruction.
He said that his country looks forward to partaking in the conference, sounding the alarm about the ramifications of the Israeli occupation expansion of Gaza war. (end) ism.mt
