CAIRO, Aug 19 (KUNA) -- Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty affirmed Tuesday on the need to put more pressure on the Israeli occupation to agree to the US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff's proposal approved by Palestine's Hamas to ease humanitarian disaster's consequences in Gaza.
During a phone call with his Greek peer George Gerapetritis to review the developments in the Gaza Strip, Abdelatty pointed to the recent progress made in this regard, Egypt's Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Earlier, Egypt underlined Hamas' approval of most of the proposal's provisions awaiting the Israeli occupation response.
Abdelatty commended close bonds with Greece, emphasizing keenness on boosting bilateral relations in all domains and building on the recent visit he paid to Greece on August 6.
He said he is looking forward to developing ties in investment, economic and commercial areas through supporting Greek companies and businesspersons to work at Egypt's market in a way that achieves reciprocal interest, according to the statement
Meanwhile, Gerapetritis lauded Egypt's continued efforts aiming to reach a ceasefire, expressing appreciation to constructive contributions to back the region's stability and security, according to the statement.
In addition, both ministers voiced hope that international intensive diplomatic efforts over the last period could result in ending the war in Ukraine, and restoring stability to Europe. (end)
