BRUSSELS, July 30 (KUNA) -- The European Union's (EU) statistical office, Eurostat, announced on Wednesday that the gross domestic product (GDP) of the euro area grew by 0.1 percent in the second quarter of 2025, while GDP across the EU as a whole increased by 0.2 percent compared to the previous quarter.
In the first quarter of this year, GDP had recorded growth of 0.6 percent in the euro area and 0.5 percent in the EU.
According to the Eurostat report, GDP rose on an annual basis in the second quarter of 2025 by 1.4 percent in the euro area and 1.5 percent in the EU, compared to the same period in 2024. This follows annual growth of 1.5 percent in the euro area and 1.6 percent in the EU in the first quarter.
Spain recorded the highest quarterly growth rate at 0.7 percent, followed by Portugal at 0.6 percent and Estonia at 0.5 percent, according to Eurostat. In contrast, Ireland saw a decline of 1.0 percent, while both Germany and Italy recorded slight decreases of 0.1 percent.
The report noted that annual growth rates were positive in all countries for which data were available. (end) arn.dss
