BRUSSELS, July 10 (KUNA) -- The European Union on Thursday affirmed its full support for the central role played by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in addressing the Iranian nuclear file, stressing the need for Iran's full compliance with the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
EU Council President Antonio Costa expressed the EU's full support to IAEA in a post on X, highlight a fruitful exchange with IAEA director, Rafael Grossi.
"The IAEA remains the only impartial body capable of verifying that Iran's nuclear program remains strictly peaceful," he emphasized, affirming that "Iran must never be allowed to acquire a nuclear weapon." Costa also stated that, during his call on Wednesday with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, he stressed "Iran must fully comply with the Non-Proliferation Treaty and enable the resumption of IAEA inspections."
