CAIRO, June 30 (KUNA) -- Egyptian President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi reaffirmed on Monday that Libya's stability is an essential part of Egypt's national security, calling for confronting foreign interference and the withdrawal of all foreign forces and mercenaries from Libyan territory.
According to presidential spokesperson Ambassador Mohammad Al-Shenawy, the statement was made during a meeting between Al-Sisi and Commander of the Libyan National Army Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar.
President Al-Sisi stressed Egypt's unwavering efforts, in coordination with Libyan parties and the Libyan Army, to support their security, stability, unity, and sovereignty, while helping restore its path toward development.
He emphasized Egypt's commitment to preserving the unity of Libya's state institutions and highlighted the importance of enhancing coordination among all Libyan parties to develop a comprehensive political roadmap that would enable simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections.
He also expressed appreciation for the Libyan National Army's role in combating terrorism, which has contributed significantly to eliminating terrorist groups in eastern Libya.
Haftar praised Egypt's key role in stabilizing Libya, commending its steadfast support and efforts to share development expertise, while affirming continued cooperation to fulfill the Libyan people's aspirations. (end) aff.ahm
