BEIJING, June 28 (KUNA) -- Representative of Kuwait Embassy in Beijing Abdulaziz Al-Dekheil briefed the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) ministerial meeting on the efforts of his country to achieve the carbon neutrality target by 2060 in the framework of the strategy for diversifying the sources of national income.
The State of Kuwait supports the SCO initiatives for achieving sustainable development under China - the current president of the organization for 2024-2050, a statement from the embassy received by KUNA on Saturday, quoted Al-Dekheil as saying in a speech to the meeting of the SCO ministers of energy.
Stating Kuwait's support for the objectives outlined by the SCO in its "year of sustainable development" initiative, Al-Dekheil said the initiative reflects a collective commitment to the issues of climate, energy security and green economy.
As an active dialogue partner of the SCO, the State of Kuwait continues contributing to the regional and international efforts to make better use of energy resources and protect the environment, he pointed out.
He commended the Kuwait-China energy partnership which gained momentum after the signing last July of a memorandum of understanding between Kuwait's Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy and China China's National Energy Administration.
The ministerial meeting, themed "innovation and integration - dynamic future," was held in Ningbo city, Zhejiang Province, east China, on June 26-27 with energy decision-makers and experts from the Organization's member states and partners taking part. (end) tma.gb
