BERLIN, June 24 (KUNA) -- Germany welcomed on Tuesday the ceasefire announced by US President Donald Trump between Iran and the Israeli occupation, calling on both parties to abide by the agreement.
In a statement on X, Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that if the ceasefire was a success it would be a "positive" development.
He deemed the success of the ceasefire as a chance for peace not only in the Middle East but possibly the whole world.
He noted that the latest developments in the Middle East as well as other prominent issues would be highlighted during the upcoming meeting for NATO in The Hague, Netherlands.
President Trump announced the ceasefire between the two sides, which recently came into effect. (end) anj.gta
