VIENNA, Jube 19 (KUNA) -- International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) stated on Thursday that the Iranian Khondab heavy water research reactor, under construction, had been hit. IAEA said in a tweet on X platform that reactor was not operational and contained no nuclear material when it was hit, so there are no radiological effects.
At the same time, IAEA said that it has no information indicating the Khondab facility had been hit.
After the 2015 Iran nuclear deal on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), it was agreed to redesign the reactor to reduce the production of plutonium used in nuclear weapons. (end) amq.seo
