KUALA LUMPUR, June 11 (KUNA) -- Indonesia's president Prabowo Subianto oversaw on Wednesday the signing of some 27 arms agreements worth USD 1.9 billion, amid a defense exhibition and forum that opened in the Indonesian capital.
The event is tantamount to a "forum for all groups to keep up with the technological and scientific advancements in the defense sector," the Indonesian president was cited as saying by ANTARA news agency, which said that Jakarta had secured memorandums of understanding involving state-owned defense companies and international private firms.
The agreements include a deal with the Turkish Defense Industry Secretariat on the "purchase of the fifth-generation fighter jet KAAN made by Turkish Aerospace Industries," according to ANTARA.
The exhibition brings together some 1,180 companies from 55 countries, including Turkiye, US and France, the state-run news agency added. (end) aab.nam
