BEIJING, June 11 (KUNA) -- China said on Wednesday that it had achieved "progress" in its efforts to resolve trade concerns with the US during a new round of direct talks between the two sides in London.
Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng held his first meeting with US Treasury and Commerce Secretaries Scott Besant and Howard Lutnick, and US Trade Representative Jameson Greer under the Beijing-Washington Economic and Trade Consultation Mechanism, Xinhua News Agency reported in a statement.
The two sides held a dialogue and exchanged views on economic and trade, noting that they reached a "preliminary consensus" on measures aimed at implementing the important agreements reached by the two countries' presidents during their contact discussions and implementing the outcomes of the Geneva talks.
Lifeng stressed the need to resolve trade disputes through equal dialogue and mutually beneficial cooperation, noting that China has both sincere intentions and principles for economic consultations.
In turn, the US side stated that the meeting was positive and contributed to strengthening trade relations between the two countries. (end)
