KUWAIT, May 21 (KUNA) -- The Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Informatics Award launched the 10th edition of its pioneering cultural competition "Shft Al-Kuwait" (meaning did you see Kuwait?) in collaboration with Sadu House, as part of its silver jubilee celebration.
Chairman of the Higher Organizing Committee of the Award, Bassam Al-Shammari told KUNA on Tuesday that this year's edition features engaging questions posted daily for ten days on the Award and Sadu House's Instagram and Facebook accounts, attracting participation from thousands inside and outside Kuwait.
The competition format requires participants to answer six questions focused on the traditional Sadu weaving craft, and those who respond correctly will enter a draw for the chance to win.
Al-Shammari added that the competition offers a total of USD 50,000 in prizes, awarded to 50 winners, each receiving USD 1,000.
Competition supervisor Sheikh Salem Athbi Al-Sabah told KUNA that the partnership between the Informatics Award and Sadu House marks a vital addition to the competition, symbolizing an inspiring integration of culture and technology.
He emphasized that the collaboration helps shed light on the Sadu craft as a deeply rooted Kuwaiti heritage, presented in an interactive format designed to engage younger generations.
Sheikh Salem added that the initiative reflects Kuwait's strong network of cultural institutions, which collaborate to launch national initiatives that elevate the country's regional and global standing.
He noted that the award aims to pursue further cooperation on future projects supporting digital culture and Kuwait's authentic heritage.
Launched in 2010, the "Shft Al-Kuwait" competition has used social media platforms to present enriching cultural content and award incentives, continuing its mission to spread knowledge and awareness. (end)
