Running until September 21, the exhibition would highlight the diversity of Arabic calligraphy through rare pieces from the museum's collections.
The collections, from the earliest Quranic manuscripts to contemporary street art, and from architecture to everyday objects, the exhibit showcases how Arabic script has touched all aspects of life.
Since the 10th century when calligraphy's rules were established, artists have constantly pushed its boundaries, exploring new mediums and experimenting abstract forms.
A cornerstone of Arab-Islamic civilization, calligraphy has expanded beyond borders, evolving and thriving worldwide, today, it has freed itself from geographical constraints, emerging as a universal language synonymous with beauty and creativity. (end) ma.sar
