BEIJING, Feb 13 (KUNA) -- The Chinese Foreign Ministry made "solemn representations" to Australia over a deliberate intrusion by an Australian warplane into the airspace over the South China Sea.
Chinese Air Force (CAF) aircraft chased the intruding plane off Xisha Islands, Xinhua news agency quoted the ministry's spokesperson Guo Jiakun as saying at a press conference in Beijing on Thursday.
The spokesperson praised the CAF response as "justified, legal, professional and restrained action." Denouncing the incursion as a threat to China's sovereignty and regional stability, Guo said China made solemn representations to Australia, and demanded halt to such infringements and provocations.
