KUWAIT, Feb 11 (KUNA) -- Representative of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah inaugurated the new building of the Palace of Justice on Tuesday evening.
Upon his arrival, His Highness the Amir's Representative was warmly welcomed by President of the Supreme Judiciary Council and Head of the Court of Cassation Dr. Adel Bouresli, Minister of Justice Nasser Youssef Al-Sumait, and Acting Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, as well as senior judges.
After playing the national anthem and a Holy Quran recitation, Justice Bouresli delivered a speech to the audience where he expressed, on behalf of the judiciary, profound gratitude to His Highness the Amir for his kind patronage of the ceremony, and to His Highness the Crown Prince for attending the occasion.
"The inauguration of the landmark building takes place at a time when the State of Kuwait is preparing to celebrate two great national occasions - the 64th national day and 34th liberation day," he said.
Justice Bouresli expressed hope that "the modern architectural masterpiece" will be a source of pride for all the sons of Kuwait and a beacon for achieving justice.
In a similar speech, Minister of Justice hailed the occasion as a historic event reflecting Kuwait vision for enhancing the rule of law and protecting the rights and liberties of everybody.
Al-Sumait thanked His Highness the Amir for his kind patronage of the ceremony, and His Highness the Crown Prince for attending the occasion.
Recalling the Sovereign's speech in last May, he said the political leadership attaches great importance to the judiciary as a second pillar of the state side by side with security. "Under the Sovereign's wise instructions, we consider the following as strategic objectives; "Review the current legislations; Facilitate, and shorten the time of, the litigation process; Expanding the digitization of judicial services in order to speed up the achievement of justice; and Enhancing the mechanisms of supervision and transparency," the minister added.
At the end of the ceremony, a documentary was screened on the development of the judicial institution in Kuwait and a token gift was presented to His Highness the Amir's Representative. (end) aah.and.gb
