BEIJING, Dec 6 (KUNA) -- China announced on Friday its strong opposition to the expulsion of one of its diplomat after being accused of "interfering in Paraguay's domestic affairs" on Thursday.
In a statement on Thursday, Paraguayآ’s Foreign Ministry said that the visa of Chinese envoy, Xu Wei, was cancelled, asking him to leave the country in 24 hours.
Speaking at a news conference, Chinese Foreign Ministry's spokesman Lin Jian said his country has recently sent a governmental delegation to Paraguay to partake in the 19th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO.
Paraguay asked a Chinese delegation member to leave its country in 24 hours, he said, describing Paraguay's charges as "unreasonable and untrue".
"Let me stress that there is but one China in the world, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory," he said. "The one-China principle is what has been affirmed in Resolution 2758 of the UN General Assembly and is a basic norm governing international relations and a prevailing consensus among the international community," he stated.
