KUWAIT, Dec 4 (KUNA) -- Participants in a panel discussion for the Middle East and North Africa have lauded the State of Kuwait's efforts in the realm of caring for cases of special challenges.
The head of the Kuwait Union for Women Societies Sheikha Fadia Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah -- that organized the workshop -- said in remarks to KUNA that the conferees who concluded the activities today recommended boosting leading role for women and girls of such cases in various fields.
The participants have also advised that care for such cases be among priorities of states' general policies and tackling obstacles hindering them from enjoying full rights, she said.
The workshop that marked the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, and attended by the UN special rapporteur for protecting the handicapped Heba Hagrass, also recommended promoting the UN mechanisms to pin point the obstacles facing peoples of special needs.
It also recommended that this segment attain full social services and care to facilitate their integration into the society and protect them against indiscrimination, in addition to developing the teaching curricula to secure education for them. (end)
