RAMALLAH, Dec 4 (KUNA) -- The Jerusalem Governorate announced on Wednesday the martyrdom of a Palestinian teenager who was critically injured after being shot by Israeli occupation forces in the Al-Thawri neighborhood in Jerusalem.
In a press statement, the governorate identified the martyr as Omar Shweiki, 15, who died of severe wounds, and that the occupation forces raided the family home in Silwan, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque, shortly after the incident.
The Israeli occupation army alleged that the teenager had thrown stones at a military patrol, however, local sources reported that Shweiki resided in the area where he was shot.
In related developments, settlers set fire to two vehicles and a storage facility in the town of Beit Furik, east of Nablus.
Earlier on Wednesday, settlers also torched two vehicles and a house in the town of Huwara, south of Nablus, and eyewitnesses told KUNA that the Israeli occupation forces stationed at a military checkpoint at the town's entrance hindered the arrival of firefighting crews.
According to the Israeli occupation's Channel 12, the occupation army had evacuated an "unauthorized" settlement outpost near Nablus, and in retaliation, settlers attacked Palestinian homes in both Huwara and Beit Furik, setting fire to houses and vehicles.
All settlements in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, are illegal under international law, and the Israeli occupation designates settlements built without government approval as "unauthorized," yet often provides them with protection and services, eventually recognizing them as official settlements.
