BEIRUT, Nov 27 (KUNA) -- Lebanese Army troops have begun deploying in southern Lebanon, exactly in the regions south of the Litani river, in coordination with the UN peacekeeping mission (the UIFIL), the military announced on Wednesday.
The army said in a statement that the reinforcement of the regular forces' presence south of the Litani river had begun for imposing the state authority in the region, noting that the operation was carried out in coordination with the UNIFIL.
The army will abide by the state obligations particularly with respect of deploying the forces south of the Litani river, it affirmed. advising civilians returning to their villages in the south to abstain from approaching villages where the occupation forces retained positions.
Many Lebanese sought to return to their hometowns from the very moment a cease-fire went into effect at dawn. Roads to the south have been jammed since the dawn.(end) fz.rk
