WASHINGTON, July 25 (KUNA) -- The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) announced Wednesday intercepting four Russian and Chinese aircraft near Alaska.
The fighter jets intercepted Chinese and Russian bombers off the coast of Alaska coming from China and Russia, NORAD said in a statement.
"Detected, tracked, and intercepted two Russian TU-95 and two Chinese H-6 bombers military aircraft operating in the Alaska Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ)," the statement added.
The aircraft did not enter the sovereign airspace of the US and Canada as they remained in international airspaces, noted the statement.
NORAD said the aircraft "were not seen as threat," affirming that it would continue to monitor "competitor activity" near North America. (end) amm.sm
