TOKYO, Oct 13 (KUNA) -- Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa and her Palestinian counterpart Riyad Al-Maliki agreed on Friday to continue working together for the de-escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli situation from the viewpoint of regional stability, Japan's Foreign Ministry said.
During their 15-minute telephone conversation, Kamikawa and Al-Maliki also agreed on the necessity to improve humanitarian access, the ministry said in a press release.
Kamikawa said that she is paying close attention to the situation in the Gaza Strip with great concern, calling on Al-Maliki to work on the parties concerned in order for the early de-escalation of the situation, according to the ministry.
In addition, she asked for support to secure the safety of Japanese nationals and both ministers confirmed to cooperate to work together.
For his part, Al-Maliki explained the position of the Palestinian Authority in the wake of the latest developments and its response as well as the situation in the Gaza Strip. (end) mk.mt
