1965 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah signed a law to join the Arab Broadcasting Union (ASBU).
1965 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah signed a law ratifying a treaty banning tests of nuclear weapons in space and water. The treaty was signed in 1963.
1971 -- Iraq's former Vice President Hardan Al-Takriti was assassinated during an unofficial visit to Kuwait.
2000 -- Kuwaiti businessman Ezzat Jaafar passed away at the age of 88. He had occupied senior positions in the Amiri Diwan and contributed to the establishment of Kuwait Oil Tankers Company and Kuwait Danish Dairy Company (KDD).
2004 -- Venezuela named the Square of Vargas State after Kuwait in appreciation of Kuwait Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah's donations to help the state following devastating floods in 1999.
2005 -- Kuwait Ministry of Interior announced that citizens could travel to Qatar, Oman, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by their civil identification cards, replacing passports.
2008 -- Al-Sabah Newspaper issued its first edition as a political daily.
2021 -- Kuwait National Assembly approved a draft law that suspended payments of instalments for banks for six months in a bid to help people overcome impacts of the coronavirus. The bill also called for local banks' financing of clients who suffered damages due to the pandemic. (end) ag
