CAIRO, March 18 (KUNA) -- Egypt and Qatar on Saturday affirmed necessity of enhancing their mutual military cooperation.
Egyptian Armed Forces said in a statement that the bilateral consensus was expressed during a meeting between Lieutenant General Osama Askar, Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, and his visiting Qatari counterpart, Lieut. Gen. Salem bin Hamad bin Mohammed bin Aqeel Al Nabit.
The statement said Lieut. Gen. Askar affirmed during the meeting necessity of increasing the mutual military cooperation between the two countries' armed forces.
The Qatari chief of staff inspected, during his visit to Egypt, a number of military facilities, including military plants, the air force headquarters and aircraft exhibition. He visited the command base of the navy and Tersana Company that produces some naval vessels and frigates in Alexandria. He also examined the locally-made Gamal Abdel-Nasser helicopter, the frigate Port Said and rubber dinghies of the Egyptian Navy. (end) asm.rk
