BEIRUT, March 7 (KUNA) -- The European Union's (EU) executive body urged lawmakers in Lebanon on Tuesday to accelerate efforts aiming to introduce broad reforms in the country's ailing banking sector.
As among the EU's most integral partners, it is imperative for Beirut to implement these reforms in a bid to resuscitate the national economy, the European Commission's Director General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations for Katarina Mathernova said after talks with caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati.
The EU is ready to employ all tools at its disposal aiming to allow Lebanon's private sector to contribute more towards national development plans, added the official. (end) kbs.nam
