ANKARA, Feb 6 (KUNA) -- At least 1,762 people were killed and 12,068 were injured in the 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Turkiye's southeastern border region with Syria, authorities' latest tally confirmed on Monday.
Search and rescue teams have managed to unearth some 6,445 people from under the rubble as the efforts remain ongoing, the country's disaster management authority said.
One of the most devastating quakes to have ever hit the country, which jolted parts of northern Syria, left behind severe damage and destruction to buildings and infrastructure. (pickup previous) akw.sd
