RIYADH, Jan 28 (KUNA) -- Round 2 of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship (CORE Diriyah E-Prix 2023) and Round 3 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship (Formula E) concluded in Diriyah governorate, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday evening.
Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammad bin Salman and Representative of His Highness the Crown Prince of Kuwait Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the chief of staff of the Crown Prince's Diwan Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah attended the events alongside with several ministers and dozens of world motor sport dignitaries.
Saudi Minister of Sport Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Saud and President of the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation Prince Khaled bin Sultan Al Saud gave out the prizes to winning champions.
Pascal Wehrlein, of the German Porsche Formula E team, steered his Porsche 99X Electric Gen-3 to a second win in the Round 3.
Avalanche Andretti driver Jake Dennis, of Britain, came second while Rene Rast, of Germany, came third, securing a first podium for his NEOM McLaren team in Formula E.
The Gen3, all-electric race cars designed and optimized specifically for street racing, were unveiled in Monaco last year; they have officially made their official debut in Diriyah with qualifying free practice starting at 4:00 pm., local time.
The British racing driver Jake Hughes, of NEOM McLaren team, led the qualifying race, followed by Mitch Evans - of the New Zealand, and Rene Rast.
Round 1 of CORE Diriyah E-Prix 2023, part of the world Formula E championship, opened yesterday with 22 drivers from 11 teams participating.
