WASHINGTON, Jan 27 (KUNA) -- The Republican-led House passed a bill on Friday to curb President Joe Biden's ability to tap the nation's Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR).
The H.R. 21 (118) bill, passed by 221 votes against 205, is a bid by the new majority of the House to rebuke the White House for using massive oil releases last year to tamp down runaway gasoline prices. It was largely a messaging effort by GOPs. One Democrat joined the Republicans to vote in favor of the bill.
The Democratic-controlled Senate has no intention of taking it up but the White House has already vowed to veto the bill. (end) asj.gb
