WASHINGTON, Dec 7 (KUNA) -- The US State Department approved a USD 330 million possible foreign military Sale to Taiwan to expand cooperative logistics supply support arrangement for stock aircraft standard spare parts and related equipment, the Pentagon announced.
Separately, the Pentagon also declared, late on Tuesday, that the State Department has made a determination approving another possible foreign military sale of aircraft non-standard spare parts and related equipment for an estimated cost of USD 98 million.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency said in two statements that it delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale.
The agency affirmed "this proposed sale serves US national, economic and security interests by supporting the recipient's continuing efforts to maintain a credible defensive capability".
"The proposed sale will help improve the security of the recipient and assist in maintaining political stability, military balance and economic progress in the region," it added.
The sale "contributes to the sustainment of the recipient's aerial fleet, enhancing its ability to meet current and future threats while providing defensive and transport capabilities critical to regional security". (end) si.nhq
