Photo Feature by Hanadi Watfa MADRID, Dec 3 (KUNA) -- Park Guell in Barcelona was designed by Antoni Gaudi between 1900-1914 at the request of the wealthy businessman Eusebi Guell, in order to build over 60 houses amid impressive natutal panorama on a 12-hectare plot of land.
However, Eusebi died in 1918 and left only two finished houses at that time but his heirs offered the park to Barcelona City Council, which agreed to the purchase in 1981. It was not opened as a municipal park until 1926.
Guell Park was greatly appreciated by the people of Barcelona, also gained appreciation by the whole world in 1984, when it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. (end) nnd.mah
