MOSCOW, Oct 7 (KUNA) -- Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Friday the call of Ukraine's President to direct a preventive nuclear strike to Russia justifies the Russian military operation in Ukraine.
Russia's 'TASS' news agency quoted Lavrov as saying that "Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's incitement to launch a defensive attack on Russia confirms the risks coming from Ukraine and justifies Russia's decision to launch a special military operation there." Lavrov recalled that Zelenski expressed his country's determination to own nuclear weapons, indicating that the international community should not keep silent against such "dangerous" calls.
Lavrov said that the Ukrainian troops have been shelling the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Station.
He pointed out that the Russian troops discovered, during the "special military operation," several biological laboratories in Ukraine supervised by the US military.
Delivering a speech in Australia, Zelensky called for launching a defensive assault against Russia, instead of waiting for it to use the nuclear weapon. (end) as.hm
