BRUSSELS, Oct 6 (KUNA) -- The Swedish Academy in Stockholm Thursday decided to award he Nobel Prize in Literature for 2022 to French author Annie Ernaux in Literature.
In a press release, the Academy said that Ernaux won the award for the courage and clinical acuity with which she uncovers the roots, estrangements and collective restraints of personal memory".
In her writing, Ernaux who was born on 1 September 1940, in Yvetot, France, consistently and from different angles, examines a life marked by strong disparities regarding gender, language and class. The Nobel Prize for literature is worth 10 million Swedish kronor (USD 9.9 million).
Last year's prize went to the Tanzanian novelist Abdulrazak Gurnah. (end) nk.nhq
