WASHINGTON, Oct 6 (KUNA) -- US citizen, Baquer Namazi, who was "wrongfully" detained in 2016 and then "barred" from leaving Iran, is now in Abu Dhabi, UAE, after departing Iran for Muscat, Oman, Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed on Wednesday evening.
Blinken said in a statement that Namazi, a former UN official, has been "reunited with his family and will soon receive urgently needed medical treatment.
"We look forward to his full recovery and to welcoming him home to the United States," he added.
"Our work is far from finished, however," he continue, "We remain committed to securing the freedom of all remaining wrongfully detained US citizens in Iran and around the world." (end) si
