MOSCOW, Sept 27 (KUNA) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin held the West responsible for the food crisis, due to the sanctions imposed on Russian grains and fertilizer exports.
According to Tass news agency on Tuesday, Putin warned against the continuous Western sanctions on Russia, adding that it will lead to a global food crisis.
Meanwhile, the Russian President accused the West of taking over Ukrainian wheat exports. He noted that only four out of 203 ships headed towards developing countries, while the majority went to the European Union (EU).
Last July, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and the UN signed an agreement on ensuring that ships carrying wheat would move toward international market from Ukrainian ports.
Russia exports about 15 percent of grains and fertilizers to international markets. (end) as.ag
