RAMALLAH, Aug 16 (KUNA) -- Palestine has resumed intensive efforts and contacts with UN Security Council (UNSC) blocs and members in a bid to obtain full UN membership, said its permanent representative at the UN Tuesday.
The Palestinian efforts aim at protecting the two-state solution and thwarting Israel's attempt to completely destroy it, Riyad Mansour told Palestine Radio.
He added that a meeting will be held with the UNSC's Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) bloc in this regard, noting that a UNSC session, chaired by China, will also take place on August 26.
In 2012, the UN had granted Palestine non-member observer State status in a General Assembly vote. The resolution on the status of Palestine in the UN was adopted by a vote of 138 in favor to nine against with 41 abstentions by the 193-member Assembly. (end) nq.mt
