TOKYO, August 10 (KUNA) - The Chinese army said Wednesday it has accomplished all tasks in a series of recent joint military operations in the waters and airspace around the Taiwan involving troops of multiple services and arms.
The operations, carried out by the Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, effectively verified the troops' combat capabilities in integrated joint operations, the Command spokesman Senior Colonel Shi Yi said in a statement, according to the People's Liberation Army.
Shi also stated that the troops under the Command will pay close attention to the evolution of situations across the Taiwan Strait, continue to carry out military training for war preparedness, organize normalized combat-readiness security patrol in the Taiwan Strait, resolutely safeguarding China's national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
According to the state-run Xinhua News Agency, the military operations around Taiwan began on the night of August 2, when US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi landed in Taiwan.
Over the past few days, troops from the Navy, Air Force, Rocket Force, Strategic Support Force and Logistic Support Force under the Command conducted joint exercises and training in the waters and airspace off the northern, southwestern and southeastern coasts of the island, it said. (end) mk.aa
