LONDON, July 19 (KUNA) -- Britain's Conservative Party announced, Tuesday, that three candidates to succeed resigned Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and they will move to the next round of the elections in which Conservative MPs participate in the House of Commons.
The Chairman of the 1922 Committee of the House of Commons, Graham Brady, confirmed in a press conference that the candidates to compete in the fifth round of voting, which will take place on Wednesday, are Secretary of State Liz Terrass, former Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak and former Secretary of Defense Penny Mordaunt.
According to the procedures amended by the 1922 committee, the voting process will end by excluding one of the three candidates, while the last two will move to the final stage of the elections, in which about 160,000 members of the Conservative Party will participate, after which the new Prime Minister will be announced by the fifth of next September.
