NEW DELHI, June 29 (KUNA) -- Indian police said on Wednesday that two militants were gunned down in an encounter with the security forces in north Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Press Trust of India said quoting a local police officer that the security forces launched a cordon and search operation at Nawapora in Mir Bazaar area of Kulgam after receiving intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
The search operation turned into exchange of fire leading to the killing of two militants.
Inspector General of Police, Kashmir zone, Vijay Kumar said: "Both the killed terrorists have been identified as categorised local terrorists of proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba". (end) atk.ibi
