RAMALLAH, June 24 (KUNA) -- Scores of Palestinians were wounded in clashes between the occupation Israeli forces and activists protesting Tel Aviv's settlement policy in villages in the West Bank.
Most intensive clashes erupted in Beta, Bait-Dejen and Qaryout near Nablus and Kfar Qaddoum close to Qalqiliah following demonstrations against Israel's construction and expansion of settlements.
Palestinian Red Crescent said in a statement its medics treated 90 wounded Palestinians, adding that a member of the teams was injured with a direct hit in the face with tear gas while 15 of the protestors suffered from suffocation in Bait Dejen.
Nine of the protesting Palestinian youth were wounded with rubber-coated bullets and many suffered breathing difficulty amid the gas fogs when the occupation forces attacked the demonstration in Kfar Qaddoum.
Bashar Al-Qaryouti, the coordinator of popular resistance in South Nablus, said the settlers had been attempting to seize origins of water streams and the Palestinians decided to resist these bids today. (end) nq.rk
