KUALA LUMPUR, June 22 (KUNA) -- Singaporean Ministry of Health announced Wednesday first monkeypox case, adding that the patient is a 42-year-old male British flight attendant.
The ministry explained in statement that the patient was in Singapore between the 15th and 17th or June, and re-entered on June 19 where he tested positive for monkeypox on the 20th adding that he is currently in the national center for infectious diseases and is in stable condition.
Health authorities are tracking those exposed to the patient during the flights and during his stay in Singapore, clarifying that danger of spreading disease is quite low as data shows that it is transmitted through close or prolonged contact.
The ministry further detailed that as of June 21, 13 cases exposed to the patient have been identified and will be put in quarantine for 21 days. (end) aab.aai
