RAMALLAH, June 21 (KUNA) -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Tuesday expressed his hopes that US President Joe Biden's upcoming visit to the Middle East will contribute to creating the atmosphere for achieving a comprehensive peace.
Abbas also expressed in a statement published by the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) his hope that the visit to the Palestinian territories would contribute to strengthening relations between the two friendly countries.
Abbas stressed, "that President Biden and his administration believe in the importance of achieving the two-state solution, stopping settlement expansion, preventing the expulsion of Palestinians from Jerusalem's neighborhoods, and preserving the historical status of the Temple Mount." President Biden is expected to visit the region in the middle of July, and he will meet President Abbas during his visit. (end) sam.ara
