ISLAMABAD, May 16 (KUNA) -- At least one person died and 11 others injured in a blast near a market in Karachi city of Pakistan's southern Sindh province on Monday, said officials.
A press release from the Karachi police's media cell said that an improvised explosive device (IED) was the cause of the blast, confirming that one woman was killed and 11 others, including a police official were injured.
"One police pick up and a few other vehicles were damaged in the incident. Crime scene unit has secured the place of the incident. Bomb disposal team is working to establish the nature of explosion," the press release said. The blast took place near Iqbal Market in Karachi's Kharadar area.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the incident.
Last Thursday, one passer-by was killed and at least nine injured when an IED planted in a motorbike went off in Saddar area of Karachi. (end) sbk.hb
