TOKYO, March 11 (KUNA) -- Japan said Friday it will freeze assets held by three Belarusian banks for their support to "the Russian invasion of Ukraine".
The freezing of the assets of the three banks -- Belagroprombank, Bank Dabrabyt, and the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus -- will take effect on April 10, the Foreign Ministry said in a press release.
The move came after the EU announced Wednesday that they will exclude the three banks from the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT).
Tokyo has already decided to freeze assets of some Belarusian individuals and entities, including Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. (end)
