1963 -- Kuwait established diplomatic relations with the Soviet Union in a step reflecting mutual desire to develop ties and cooperation on the regional and international levels.
1975 -- The Ministry of Housing was founded with the aim of cooperating with the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW).
1978 -- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) began broadcasting local Arabic news.
2000 -- The Public Institution for Social Security (PISS) approved a bill barring retirement of women or personnel performing harmful, hard or hazardous jobs before 45 years of age.
2005 -- Kuwait delivered a document of its joining of the Kyoto Protocol on climatic change to bureau of the United Nations Secretary General.
2006 -- Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz decorated, in Riyadh, Kuwait's Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, with King Abdulaziz Medal in appreciation of his constructive role for Arab and Gulf causes.
2008 -- Kuwait won the first Gulf women sports tournament, bagging 24 medals including 11 gold ones.
2009 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah inaugurated new headquarters of the Olympic Council of Asia. The Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah represents him at the ceremony.
2011 -- Kuwait swimming team won eight GCC tournament held in Qatar.
